Return Timeframes

You may return most regular-priced and sale merchandise to Talbots within 30 days of original receipt date provided items remain in original condition with all tags still attached.

We strive processing returns within 10 business days of items being received and inspected at our return facilities. Actual account refund visibility varies based on individual banking institution’s settlement procedures. You should expect return credits back on your account method within 7-10 business days at maximum after reaching our centers.

Exchanges also initiate immediately upon inspection with replacement items rushing to you at our cost. No need to wait for a refund first before sending something new from latest Talbots collections!

For gifting occasions, keep in mind returns must be initiated within 30 days of when recipient receives items – not original order date. Please retain gift receipts for easy reference. See Gift Returns section for more details.

How To Start a Return

The fastest way to begin a Talbots return or exchange is through our Online Returns Center. Simply visit link above and submit returns request by following on-screen instructions. You can choose returning items via any shipping outlet or dropping off at your local Talbots store if more convenient.

Once submitted, you will receive an immediate on-screen return confirmation detailing items successfully entered. We also email a Return Reference Number for tracking status plus printable return label or QR code for shipping items back at no cost using your own packaging materials.

Alternatively, you may complete our Return Form and pack slip with items to our attention including order details for refund. In-store purchases without receipts can present return using original tender and government ID for lookup by order number.

For fastest routing, attach provided return label to box or take label QR code to carrier location facilitating scan. Do not rely on employees recognizing Talbots as delays may occur with items reaching our return centers promptly without reference numbers. Pack items securely so they remain in original condition avoiding further damage. We are unable to credit items returned used, worn, or extremely distresses unless issues present upon original receipt.

Talbots provides several return channel options for your convenience:

Online Return Label Or QR Code: Generate pre-paid return label or QR code to place on your package facilitating free return shipping back to our processing centers using carrier of choice and your own packaging materials.

In-Store Returns: Take items to local Talbots retail store displaying our Return Policy signage. Any location gladly accepts returns regardless of original purchase channel. Refunds back to original tender or exchanges.

Mail-In Returns: Complete our Return Form and pack with items sending to Retail Returns Processing Center address printed on slip. Enclose original receipt for fastest refund back to original payment. Customer pays return shipping costs.

While Talbots covers return label shipping costs, we cannot refund or reimburse other expenses such as initial shipping fees unless return results from our error like sending inaccurate or damaged goods. See Shipping Policy for damage claim instructions.

Contact our Customer Care team ahead of 30 day window expiration if extenuating circumstances prevent timely return and we try our best accommodating reasonable requests.

Refund Methods & Timing

After items reach our processing facilities and pass inspection, refunds issue promptly by these methods:

Original Card: If paid by credit or debit card, we refund back that original card typically within 5-7 business days. Actual refund visibility varies by individual bank.

Original Gift Card: For any Gift Card amount remaining gets returned to a new Talbots Gift Card for future use.

Store Credit: If purchased using a previous merchandise or store credit, refunds go to a reusable Talbots Store Credit within 5-7 days after inspection

Original Tender: Any cash transactions get refunded to original payment type presented after review. Refund check may take 15 business days.

Do not hesitate contacting Customer Care if refund not showing as expected on account within 7-10 business days. We promptly investigate status.

Even Exchanges

Instead of waiting on refunds before replacing items, Talbots facilitates even exchanges shipping new pieces immediately at our cost upon return arrival to processing centers. No need waiting to reorder something else you love!

Even exchanges only apply if swapping for merchandise of equal or higher value to avoid balance due. Simply notify us if you would prefer an even exchange when initiating returns request online or complete store Return Form including desired replacement items and sizes.

Once return items pass inspection, new selections ship right away so you can enjoy latest pieces without any wait. Contact us ahead of return shipping for availability of desired exchange items in your size since inventory differs by location.

Please note with even online exchanges, return shipping label provided only covers initial return. Customer responsible for return costs of subsequent exchanges if newly shipped pieces don’t work out.

Return Exceptions

While Talbots accepts returns of most merchandise, select categories are ineligible for return unless defective as received due to hygiene or special order reasons:

Returning Gifts

We make gift returns easy by looking up orders when accompanied by gift receipt without expectations friends or family retain order numbers or original payment details. Simply present gift receipt from back of packing slip at any Talbots store or enter Gift Order Lookup information when generating online return label.

For returns without gift receipts, bring unwashed, unused items with original tags to local store within 30 days of recipient confirmed delivery date along with government-issued ID. We locate order details to facilitate refund or exchange.

Gifts purchased in-store more than 30 days ago without receipts may only exchange for current selling merchandise of same dollar value. No cash or credit refunds without proof of purchase and date. Please contact gift giver to obtain necessary order information expediting credit returns if issues obtaining.

Damaged Or Defective Items

If Talbots merchandise arrives damaged or proves otherwise defective upon opening initial shipment, promptly alert us within 3 calendar days of receiving items with photos and order specifics so we can make record of issues while details fresh.

Do NOT dispose of damaged goods before documentation. Set aside all packaging materials with visible defects allowing us to secure refund or provide prompt replacements at our cost. Modifying Or Canceling Return Requests

If you change mind about wanting to return pieces or realize submitted return request in error, please notify our Customer Care team promptly with your Return Reference Number before shipment leaves your possession. If items already departed, immediately contact the carrier to attempt recalling before delivery.

Once return packages show as received and processed at our facilities we cannot easily intercept to modify requests. You will need to wait for any refund due back to re-order pieces should you change preferences.
